My name is Spirit, but you can also call me Yuliya. I have deeply loved horses ever since I found out about them, but living in the city, I have not been able to be with them. I take any riding opprotunity that comes by, but they are few. So, I became active in horse rights, and animal rights in general.
Right now, I do have a place I take riding lessons, but only during the summer. Beccause during the school year, my teacher couldn't do it when I could, and vice versa. (She's 16) I rode a bay Thoroughbred gelding named Mr. Darcy, from Pride & Prejudice(A book and movie I love) He has a star and two white socks on his hind legs. I love him to death. He's a mischievous gentleman.
I try to prevent horse cruelty in any way possible, through letters and poems, through bringing pickets to my school on National Horse Day. I want all the cruelty to end.

Well, I guess I'm the "old fogey" then, lol. I've been around horses all my life (46 years!) and as a child, I was part of the letter writing campaigne to help Velma Johnston get the Wild Horse and Burro Act (http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/wild_horse_and_burro/facts_and_stats/The_Wild_Free_Roaming_Horses_and_Burros_Act_of_19 71.html) passed along with thousands of other school children..in all of histroy, the only other letter writing campaigne to thew White House of highre magnitude, was against the Vietnam War. Later, in my teens, we adopted our first 2 wild horses in WY...what an awesome experience! I could write a book about that...but will save you from me doing it here In 1996, I adopted Metawa. the first BLM mustang I could truely call my own...he has been the love of my life! I am now currently owned by 4 mustangs and one domestic Appaloosa mare. I am a wild horse mentor for new adopters, and the list owner of several yahoogroups for and about wild horses. I am a staunch defender for our Nation's Living Legacy, as well as all horses. I've written enough letters to Congress to fill a small book, and have been doing so since that first letter so many years ago. Feel free to check out my sites listed in my signature line, as well as join my yahoogroup, Wy_Mustangs. Also please be sure to check out the new links I've added to this forum
(now, to just figure out how to post pictures and my avitar!...help?)
